Dear Sammy, so many happy memories of being with you especially when Emma and Claude were little during our holidays in Wareham and the Isle of Wight also just last month in France - you gave the boys a run for their money in the Labyrinth and your skills in Scrabble are still being disputed. Claude’s convinced it was just luck! But no one was better at anthropomorphism than you. All our animals speak in the voices you invented for them their voices ringing in our ears. Who else would have realized quite how sexy Isla feels despite her beard? Disco’s, “ you smell of BO,’ ‘who’s a beautiful beauty boy?” and “he’s just so, bliming, that bliming bird!” are all from your repertoire. Riding on Haslemere Common, eating pizza whilst watching Strictly, your drawings on our kitchen wall, film recommendations and Netflix series suggestions. Despite your illness you knew how to appreciate life more than most and we look back and laugh about so many good times spent together. It was the hilarity you created around you by your response to situations. Your call for trees to be planted on Dungeness Beach because, “What is Emma going to do? Why aren’t they thinking of Emma burning in all this sunshine?” The time we lost you at the steam rally and Rupert called for you over the speaker system, calls which were reserved for those with special needs only. You played along with that despite your excruciating embarrassment. Because of these precious memories you will always feel close to us despite going too soon.
